As at 15/8/2016 after submitting all the required documents including payment for a mail application for a 90 day tourist visa the Thai Consul Perth and all Thai Legations world wide require in writing proof that I have at least $800 Australian in a bank. For 90 day tourist visa? I couldn’t and wouldn’t live in a cardboard box with only this amount of money for 3 months in Thailand. I’m 74 y/o my trip is for a holiday. If they insisted it be AUS $8000 I would understand. If you only have on-line bank accounts it’s very difficult and time consuming to get an urgent written account statement. There is no request for this information on the application form. Does Thailand really want tourists, my budget is $600 per week when I get there. Do they really want little old blokes like me?

Based on the visa application form of the Thai Consulate in Perth, general requirements include showing “A BANK’S CERTIFICATE OF BALANCE showing a balance of the amount equal to and not less than AUD$800 or 20,000 Baht if applying for Single Entry Tourist” visa.

You may get in touch with their office to clarify the requirement as it is specific to their office.

I am a Australian Citizen and married to a Thai. We were married in Australia. For years I have obtained a 12 month Multiple Entry Non Immigrant Visa. Are these still available?

    Hi There!

I live in Koh Samui and my family from Zimbabwe would like to visit. What documents/forms do I need to get a 30-day Tourist visa for my father who is on a Zimbabwean passport?

As there is no Thai embassy or consulate in Zimbabwe, your father will need to apply for the tourist visa from the Thai Embassy in Pretoria. Kindly refer to the link below for the requirements to apply for the tourist visa. Should you have further inquiries about the visa application process, you may contact the Thai Embassy for information.

If my friend, with a Thai passport, comes to Canada at Christmas time does he also need the bank balance? I will pay for things when he gets here. He is an old family friend that needs help. But that’s our concern. I just want to know if he needs the bank statement showing his balamce.

    Thanks for any information.

While you will be sponsoring his trip, he will need to show evidence that he has strong ties to Thailand – such as a job, home, financial assets or family – that will take him back to your home. In this case, he may still be required to show his bank statements.
