Hi there, my New Zealand passport expires in January and I am travelling to Thailand (Phuket) in November. Do I need a new passport so it will be valid for at least 6 months when I go? I’ve found conflicting advice online.

Normally, the passport validity requirement to enter Thailand is 6 months at least. If you are traveling to Thailand on November and your passport is expiring on January of the succeeding year, we advise that you apply for a new passport before your travel to avoid any problem at the immigration section during your entry to Thailand.

Thank you for your reply. I am specifically asking about multiple entries for the non-immigrant visa B. I often travel in South East Asia and would like to base myself in Bangkok. I have received a multiple entry non B visa from Melbourne, Australia and would like to know if the Auckland consulate also offers this.

      Thanks

You will not need to visa to travel to Thailand for 2 weeks. Citizens of New Zealand are are permitted to stay in Thailand up to 30 days if entering via international airport and up to 15 days if entering through a land border checkpoint from a neighboring country (Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia) under the Visa Exemption Rule.
